Electrostatic Painting on Plastic Material with Cold-water Paints

A new technological record now applies to a painting plant for the industrial production of faceplates of television sets.

Operators know all technical problems to implement these technological measures very well:

  • Electrostatic application of cold-water paints
  • On dielectric manufactured products made of plastic
  • With fully automatic process - robots

These are, in brief, the main difficulties linked to industrial painting.

Our customer’s requests are:

  • A higher productivity
  • Paint consumption and cost reduction
  • To stay within the legal emission limits

The cold-water paint is potentially able to grant the best results.

The electrostatic application reduces:

  • Waste of paint
  • Application time; and it also
  • Facilitates the robots programming

Application tests are carried out and the paints are properly set up, any modification to restructure the plant is decided and implemented:

  • Pouring of the conductive liquid in the tunnel
  • use of electrostatics in isolated system
  • restructure of the furnaces to meet the needs of the cold-water paints
  • vertical positioning of the pieces with a small universal balance

The following results are obtained after less than one week from the starting:

  • Cycle time from 90” to 30” for single pieces 21”
  • Paint consumption from 140 gr./piece to 70 gr.
  • Emission parameters within the law
  • Disposal reduction
  • Easier programming and process playback
  • Reduction of machine shop rejection
  • Reduction of dead time

Experience is considered highly useful and valid, our Management decided to implement a new plant particularly designed for these technologies.

  • All parameters are optimized
  • Multiple vertical balances are used

After a few weeks from the starting the results are as follows:

  • Average cycle time per balance (6 pieces) 60”
  • Average paint consumption < 30 gr./piece

We are available to check and control if the same extraordinary results may be obtained with your manufactured product in your production environment.

Before our intervention:

  • Cycle time for single piece 90”
  • Average consumption for single piece 140 gr.

After our intervention:

  • 30" cycle time
  • 70 gr paint consumption

With the new plant designed by our company the following results have been obtained:

  • Cycle time for small balance (6 pieces) 60”
  • Consumption < 30 gr. piece
